Formål
Treatments currently available for progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) only slow down the progression of the disease but cannot stop it or reverse the cognitive and physical disabilities. This highlights the need for developing novel therapies targeting the gradual exacerbation of disability caused by PMS neurodegeneration. Our vision is to improve the treatment of PMS, by unlocking the regenerative potential of microglia. Our proposal introduces new therapeutic avenues that could reverse PMS-related physical and cognitive disabilities, thereby significantly improving patient quality of life.

Hvad driver dig personligt i dit arbejde med MS-forskning?
Becoming a researcher has always been a dream of mine and I am passionate and curious about the brain and neuroscience. There is so much we do not yet understand about brain function, neurological conditions and their treatment. I strive to unlock the mysteries of neurodegeneration and contribute to improving the quality of life for individuals living with multiple sclerosis.
Hvilken betydning har det for din forskning at projektet har modtaget midler fra Scleroseforeningen?
This grant allows me to pursue my PhD where I will investigate a new treatment approach for PMS aimed at inducing remyelination in the brain and reversing cognitive impairment.
